This event took place in Lekwungen Territory.

TEALIYE (ta-a-th-le-ut) is an Indigenous youth from the Songhees/Lekwungen Nation in Victoria through her father’s side with roots to the Namgis Kwakwaka’wakw people in Alert Bay through her mother’s side. She is the oldest of eight siblings from four parents whose backgrounds are Lekwungen, Kwakwaka’wakw, Mowachaht/Muchalaht & Nuu chah nulth. TEALIYE was brought up around her father’s territory of the Lekwungen people, learning many of the teachings from her grandfather Skip Dick and family members. Within the past six years she has taken on the role of Welcoming people to the territory and opening for events in the ways that her grandfather Skip Dick and her Uncle Bradley Dick have taught her. Serap Brown is a water and nature lover; her passion is to raise consciousness on water’s preciousness, purity, beauty and essential life-giving force through combining science and art together. Serap and her husband Peter Brown, calling themselves ‘River Riders’, have ridden their tandem bicycle over 5000 km along rivers in Europe and Canada from source to sea, following where the rivers go. Her love and care for water and her experiences during these trips led her to writing poetry and making films. Serap is currently studying towards her PhD at the University of Victoria, Faculty of Education, Leadership Studies and aims to develop environmental education programs using arts to raise consciousness about our relations to water.  www.riverriders.net
Dana Sipos is an acclaimed Canadian songwriter described as "slightly strange and completely mesmerising." She tours extensively, occasionally by canoe, tall ship, train and bicycle. Trick of the Light was released on Roaring Girl Records and nominated for English Songwriter of the Year at the 2018 Canadian Folk Music Awards.  www.danasipos.com
