TEALIYE (ta-a-th-le-ut) is an Indigenous woman from the Songhees/Lekwungen Nation in Victoria through her father’s side with roots to the Namgis Kwakwaka’wakw people in Alert Bay through her mother’s side. She is the oldest of eight siblings from four parents whose backgrounds are Lekwungen, Kwakwaka’wakw, Mowachaht/Muchalaht & Nuu chah nulth. TEALIYE was brought up around her father’s territory of the Lekwungen people, learning many of the teachings from her grandfather Skip Dick and family members. Within the past several years she has taken on the role of Welcoming people to the territory and opening for events in the ways that her grandfather Skip Dick and her Uncle Bradley Dick have taught her. Nēlé is an emerging multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter hailing from the coast of the Salish Sea. Her music opens fertile ground for soul connection with mantra-inspired vocables and sprinklings of new age lyricism. A trove of harmonies and vocables bid lip tips curve in fresh, delighting joy. Artist by nature, Carolyn Knight makes art and ephemera with people, connecting to important places, an abiding focus on water. In collaborative public arts practice in theatre, music, and visual art; kindling stories to light imaginations in caring for water, lands, forests, and all who depend upon these sacred elements of life, turn stories to murals, mosaics, theatre, and songs to sing. Recent engaged theatre creation, solo and ensemble performance includes collaborative co-production, im:print2022, with Inter-Cultural Association’s Community Arts, and with UVIC’s Phoenix Theatre Equity Stage – The Chief Dan George Theatre, in co-creation with Raino Dance. Sharon Sunhye Lee is a Toronto-born writer, school teacher, and multi-disciplinary artist who is of Korean descent. She has published two books of poetry, Detours: Adventures Abroad and Reflections at Silver Lake. Sharon also does graphic design for the poetry reading series, Planet Earth Poetry, and was selected as a featured poet in their Poets Caravan project. Constance Cooke is an established Queer Canadian Dance Artist working as a Choreographer for Stage, Dance on Film, and Site-Specific Work; as an Educator of Contemporary Dance and Screendance; as a Mentor and Curator. Her work has attracted and cultivated curious, open, and intelligent audiences for contemporary and experimental work for over 35 years. Cooke’s work has been presented in Canada, North America, and Europe. She has created over 60 professional works and self-produced 10 full-length works. Cooke lives, creates, and works on the unceded Coast Salish Territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations, in Victoria B.C.
Kayla Henry (she/her) is the founder and Artistic Director of Noble Riot Dance Theatre (2021). Kayla has been choreographing since she was 8-years old, professionally since 2013. Her works have been presented by Dance Victoria (Victoria), Good Women Dance Collective (Edmonton), Impulse Theatre (Victoria), Constance Cooke Dance (Victoria) and Springboard Performance (Calgary). Her creative processes have been supported through grants, awards, residencies, and mentorships. Kayla has performed in hundreds of professional works across Canada, USA, and Europe. Sarah Hutton (she/her) was raised in Hanna, Alberta. She moved to so-called “Vancouver” in 2013 and has since trained with the Source Dance Company, EDAM, Modus Operandi and completed Peggy Baker’s Emerging Artists Program. She has had the pleasure to collaborate with; Shay Kuebler, Paras Terezakis, Constance Cooke, Khoudia Toure, Jennifer Mascall, Isak Enquist, and David Raymond & Tiffany Tregarthen. Touring with Radical System Art has brought her to perform in France, Austria, and across Canada. Dilly Cooner is a local emerging singer/songwriter who loves to tell stories through her music. Influenced by Folk, RnB, and Pop, she has developed a unique, smooth sound, mesmerizing audiences whether she is crooning over guitar or piano.
